Press Release Sample - Calgary’s Soltara Energy Announces Major Development and New Sustainability Goals

Calgary, AB  — Calgary-based Soltara Energy Corp. has announced a major step forward in its growth plans, developing more than 150,000 acres in Alberta’s Duvernay Formation. The development is part of an effort to increase operational output while staying true to the company’s ongoing push toward cleaner, more responsible energy development.

The newly acquired land is expected to boost Soltara’s production by roughly 35% over the next year and a half, with over 200 new jobs anticipated across Alberta. But the company says this isn’t just about growing fast—it’s about growing right.

“We’re focused on the future of energy, and for us, that means balancing production with real progress on emissions and environmental responsibility,” said Leah Morton, CEO of Soltara Energy. “This expansion gives us a strong foundation to do both.”

Alongside the Duvernay announcement, Soltara introduced a new sustainability roadmap that outlines its goal to cut operational emissions by 20% by 2035. The sustainability roadmap includes expanded use of carbon capture technologies, electrified drilling systems, and state of the art land remediation.

Additional Commitments:

  • A new Environmental Innovation Lab will launch in Calgary this fall, bringing together researchers, Indigenous leaders, and clean tech startups to explore next-generation solutions.

  • $5 million in funding will be directed toward local partnerships, education initiatives, and community infrastructure, with a focus on long-term collaboration with Indigenous communities.

“Our work doesn’t stop at the wellhead,” Morton added. “We’re investing in the people and technologies that will shape the energy sector for years to come.”
